We have more time than we think
The piece reflects on the unsettling feeling of being in your early thirties, caught between where you expected to be and where you actually are, and how fears about time running out can make the future feel crushingly close. It ultimately reassures that many people start later and still succeed, emphasizing that there’s still plenty of time to learn, grow, and focus on the present instead of trying to live the future all at once.
This’ll be short.
I have a conversation with a coworker about the uncomfortable feeling of being in your early thirties.
You’re met with this stretching period between where you thought you would be in life and where you are.
I find myself thinking that 50 years will pass by tomorrow, then I’ll die.
But, the reality is, people have started their careers much later than I (33 at time of writing) and they go on to be successful. There’s so much time to take a few months brushing up and improving.
Looking ahead is great, but making the future your current reality is too far.
